MICROSOFT ANNOUNCES NEW REQUIREMENTS FOR OEMS
Microsoft has changed its requirements for OEMs to deliver MS
intellectual property. Now all OEMs who want to deliver the
operating system on CD are required to have a BIOS locked
recovery solution. After several months of extensions, all OEMs
must have the BIOS locked recovery solution in place no later
than April 1, 2000.
To meet the immediate needs of OEMs for the new requirements, @priori
has developed an operating system only recovery solution. This
allows an OEM to continue to do business as before, while
pursuing its ideal recovery solution. The OEM can then evaluate
its customers and market place demands to determine the ideal
recovery solution. Factors such as whether the recovery solution
should be distributed on disc, floppy, or partition on the hard
drive; as well as, individual application recovery, are
important.
